Counseling Groups at TMS
Group offerings at TMS change all the time depending on the current needs of students. Some groups that have been offered in the past include:
Girls Group (Learn how to make friends, stay organized, steer clear of drama, and resolve conflict)
Anger Management (Learn strategies/skills how to keep your cool!)
Anxiety/Stress Management (Learn strategies and coping skills to tackle anxiety and stress)
Grief Group (Join others who have experienced a death of a family member, friend or special pet.)
Study Skills Group (Learn ways to study for tests, take notes, study at home, and keep yourself calm before tests)
Boys Group (Hear from other male students about the pressures, problems, and struggles of being a middle school guy.)
If you or your student are interested in them being part of a group, please call or e-mail one of the counselors, or have your student pick up a permission slip from the counseling office . Groups usually run for 6-8 weeks (depending on the group topic). If a slip is turned in after the group begins, that student will be included in the next series of groups. Groups are offered in the Fall, Winter, and Spring of each school year.
Groups are a way for students to make new friends, and be able to share their experiences with other students who may have similar experiences. Each group member agrees to keep what is said in group confidential. If this is not honored, that student will be removed from group.
